Football, Firetrucks, and Festival

School has begun, and I am loving my new school. We have had a crazy week with Senator Claire McCaskill holding her listening forum at school. Plus, it was our first full week. This weekend was all about free fun. The Jefferson City Jays kicked off their season last night with a win. Cooper, Logan, and I went tailgating and ran into many folks from church. Free hot dogs, chips, and soda made the stress of being out alone with the boys worth it. Then it was over to the football game. Thanks to Rick and Christy Smith, we all got to the game before kickoff. Daddy joined us, and Logan had a blast! The Jays won 44-20! We may be repeating this outing!

Today, we slept in, and then went to the Fire Station's Grand Opening. With sirens and lights going, Logan and I rode in the front of the firetruck around Holts Summit. It was awesome! Logan wasn't too sure in the beginning, but was sold as soon as we started moving. We then walked around the new facility. We are very blessed to have such a great community.

After nap time, we went to the capital lawn for the Christian Family Festival. We heard many great bands, but the best was saved for last. Mathew West closed the show with a great performance. I now have a few new favorites for the Ipod. Check out Stop the World if you can.

Cooper update: He had his two month check up. He weighed 12 lbs 5 oz, and was 23 1/4 inches long. Now wearing 3-6 month clothes that are almost too short, he is in the 75 percentile for height and weight. Cooper is smiling and cooing and is just too cute for words. This week, he slept for 8 hours in a row! Yippee! He hasn't repeated that yet, but it did make me feel really good.

Logan update: Logan is growing up so fast. He is getting so tall and now likes to take his stool around so he can reach things. He asked me to take him to the potty today. Kids just grow up too fast! Last weekend, we went putt putt golfing. Logan shot a 21 for the 18 hole course. His longest put was 5 inches, but he knocked it in everytime and shouted, "It's in the hole!" Mommy also did well, even though I carried Coop in the front carrier. Logan would just pick up my ball from where ever I hit it and drop it into the cup for me:) I didn't complain.

Well, enjoy this mild August! It has been beautiful. In fact, teachers in this school have been wearing coats, because it is too cold. I bet the kids up the road would love to partake in air conditioning. If only we could share... Love to all!

Still Growing!!

Cooper is becoming such a big boy! He is 12 pounds, 5 ounces and 23 1/5 inches. He is between the 50 and 75 percentile. Tomorrow the students come back to school. I really love my new school, but I miss my friends. Today I actually complained about being too cold. Why can't I just be satisfied? Logan is a great big brother, but has started to whine. If you have any good tips on nipping that in the bud, we are open!! So I hope you enjoy the video. It was a huge undertaking. Not the video itself, just getting it to post on the blog. Love to all!

Welcome to July!

Cooper is three weeks old, and we have started to be able to go and do like we used to. I have taken the boys to Wal-Mart by myself, but mostly I have teamed up with other mommies. Tuesday, I met up with the Curren's at Runge Nature Center. It was so cute to see the boys all in a row. They had a great time, and it really wore me out.
Then, we went to see the Holts Summit fireworks on Thursday. Logan got to ring the bell on the fire engine and danced like a maniac to the band. Cooper just goes along for the ride where ever we go. He is a great baby. The Curren's hosted 4th of July, and we had a great time sliding on the water slide. Afterward, we went back to our neighborhood to watch the Capital's fireworks. It is great to know we can see them from our house without having to mess with the traffic.

All of the sudden, he has gotten taller and slimmer. His 2T pants fall down, and his belly shows in his 2T tee shirts. I have been trying to stretch the tops, but I am constantly pulling up his britches. Luckily, he is starting to get into the potty training a little, so the pants come off easily! He is starting to really get into the big brother thing. Just check out the pictures! I hear Cooper calling for his lunch! Love to all...

Panic and bellybuttons

So after a long day with both boys crying more than normal, I am finally sitting down to tell everyone about Cooper's bellybutton. His umbilical cord finally fell off today, so we should be in the bath tomorrow. I was so grossed out, especially since it fell off, and I didn't know where it was. I found it on the floor and had to pick it up...eww. It looks like he is an outie, just like Logan and Daddy. Once it is totally clean I will take a picture and post it. As for now, I am panicking about every little bump and diaper rash. Also, I have only been home alone one day, and I didn't get a nap or venture outside once. Logan's brain is going to melt from Dora and Cars. Okay...so I maybe a little irrational.

On a much happier note, today is the 23 of June which marks my parents 20th anniversary. That's right, 20 years ago they walked down the aisle to Debbie Gibson's Lost in Your Eyes and Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle. It was a great day. Happy Anniversary you two; I hope it was a fantastic day.

Good Night to all, I hope!

Who do I look like?

Here are some pictures to compare. Who does Cooper look like? Logan... at about three months...and with dark hair. I hope you enjoy!

Updates!

Today, Cooper is one week old! I can't believe how fast this week has gone. I am feeling great and healing very well. Jason went back to work on Wednesday while my mom and I hung out with the boys. So far Cooper is keeping a pretty good schedule. He lets us know when he is uncomfortable, but for the most part he is doing everything a baby should. Logan is getting along very well. We have played outside and tried not to veg out too much in front of the TV. We ventured out today to visit the new Wal-Mart. It went pretty smoothly until Logan fell asleep in the car. I didn't know what to do, since I can't lift him yet. He woke up just in time to walk into the house. Now he is just being a two year old, whining and giggles both in a one minute time frame. That is all for now...I must attend to the big brother!

Logan's Gift to Cooper

Logan decided that little brother needed to have a truck. He has been soooo sweet!

My, the changes two months can bring!

Well, it has been so long since I have had free time that I haven't spent napping. Here is the update:

After the last posting, I decided to apply on a whim to Jefferson City Public Schools for a math position in the middle school. I returned my completed application with the intent of it really not going anywhere. Especially after I drove it to the office and prayed that if it was in God's will then let this happen, and then went to the door and it was locked. Haha, God! So I mailed it. A friend from church, who teaches 8th grade there, gave me the advice of calling the principal and telling him of my interest. After speaking with him, he went to pull my application and couldn't find it. Again, God and his timing! I redid everything and faxed it in. The next morning he called to say they had found my application; he hadn't realized that I have duel certification, and the app. was in the English file. He offered me an interview immediately and told me that I was one of four people. I couldn't believe it. After the unbelievable interview with a team of teachers who felt like family, I was told it would be a couple of weeks before I knew anything. The next morning, they called and offered me the position, 6th grade math. It turned out that they had interviewed nine other candidates! Talk about a boost to my ego! So here I am getting ready for a new baby, and now I am also going to change jobs. Seven years, seven different positions. I hope that this is my last move, at least for a while.

Speaking of the big little brother, as we are now calling him, he is doing beautifully. All the heparin shots and variety of vitamins have done the trick, as I am now officially full term. He is growing in the 90th percentile and can come any time. If I don't go into labor before June 12, the doctor has scheduled a Cesarean for that morning. No matter what, it is unsafe for me to have a natural birth, so C-section it is, unless God has another plan. As of 35 weeks, he was estimated to weigh 7.5 pounds. I am at 37 weeks now and we do new measurements this Tuesday. Grandma and Grandpa Duryea are going to be here this Saturday to help get everything in order and interview for a job in Rolla. Everything is working out, almost too well, but I trust that this is the way it should be.

Logan and I spent last week running errands and weeding the flower bed. He has played in the pool and the sandbox. This week, I think I am going to take him to the park and anything else that I can still do. I just can't believe that I am going to have two kids! Amazing!

Yesterday, Jason and I went out for our FIVE year anniversary. We saw Wolverine and ate dinner at Applebee's (since Arris' was closed). Jason gave me a beautiful necklace with June's birthstone, Alexandrite, plus matching earrings. It changes color depending on the light and is very beautiful. Our mini-babymoon/anniversary was awesome. We just hung out like we were kid less again! Thanks Cook's (and Clardy's) for keeping Logan. It was a great time.

Now that school is out, I hope to have more time to post. I hope to keep up the baby updates for all to see! Thanks for reading!

Happy Birthday!

This weekend was packed full of drama and excitement! Our school is out for Good Friday and Easter "Monday," so it was a perfect time to have family in. Friday morning started out with laundry and Dora the Explorer. Then Grandma and Grandpa (Jason's parents) arrived just in time for me to go to my 30 week doctor's appointment.

The doctor had good news; my blood count is up, yet still anemic, and I get to eat more! She is worried that I am not gaining enough weight and told me to eat, eat, eat. The baby is growing well, though and is moving all the time. I see her again in two weeks!

After the appointment, I went and picked up Logan and the G.P.'s for lunch. We met Jason at McAlister's Deli where we caught up and watched as Logan ate from my plate instead of his. Then it was nap time for the boys, and Jan and I went to shop for picnic supplies. When we returned, Nanny and Papa (my parents) were there and ready to play with Logan. After a night of playing and a great dinner at Chevy's everyone turned in early.

Saturday was beautiful. Logan drug the grandparents onto the porch to play in the sandbox, while I made breakfast. After Logan went down for a nap, Jason and I took a trip -alone- to the store. We stopped by Target to find a birthday candle, but ended up finding the perfect decorations for Logan's new room. We even found a basketball door mat for only $1! Hopefully, they will show up in some of the pictures. After fighting the crowd...and I mean crowd at Target, we headed across to Wal-Mart to pick up the cake. We were very surprised to find firetrucks and an empty parking lot. Due to a power outage, Wal-Mart was closed! Crazy. I begged for Logan's B-Day cake and was told to just go buy one elsewhere. So, we drove across town and just as we pulled into park at Schnucks, Wal-Mart called and said they had gone in after our cake. They even gave it to us free!

When we returned home, Nanny was really ill (it turned out to be bronchitis) and so Papa had taken her home. So it was up to Grandma and me to go and decorate the park. We had a blast with the sports theme. I was put in charge of the grill somehow. It would be great if I had experience with this, but everyone seemed to be okay with the hot dogs. I can't believe Logan turned two!

Easter was the next day and after church, we had a great time watching Logan search for Easter Eggs. He looked so spiffy in his new suit! We were so glad to have time with the family and feel so blessed by God.

Until next time!

Pics

Here are a few pictures of Logan. He will be turning two April 18, so we are going to celebrate Easter weekend. The new baby is in the 75th percentile for growth, and he will be delivered on June 10, if all continues to go well. I am on yet more medication to help this happen. Hope all of you are doing well!

While Jason and I were admiring the freshly cleaned carpet, Logan took the open door as an invitation to get into his sandbox. He played for almost 45 minutes without distraction before we had to drag him to praise team rehearsal.

He needs a haircut so badly! When I get the time and the courage, he will get his first haircut. I wonder if he will be one or two!

This one is of Logan trying out his new basketball bed. Soon it will have sheets and blankets and he will be crib free just in time for baby. His new big boy room will be done in a sports theme, obviously!

Ignore the NewBalance shoes. They are hand-me-down play shoes only! We are still an Adidas family!

Happy TurkeyChristmasNewYearBirthday

We have plenty to update everyone on. First, we are happy to announce that we will be having a second son in late spring. It has been quite an ordeal because of the complications that have come with me being pregnant. As you can see by the ticker, we are halfway to our due date, and so far other than being on many vitamins and heparin, the baby is growing perfectly. We went to see a specialist when we first found out that we were expecting. He found that I have a blood clotting disorder along with inflammation, so this means I am at high risk for everything that occurred last time with Logan to repeat itself this time. But, so far so good!

Thanksgiving was a huge whirlwind. Logan and his cousin, Erica, kept us very entertained at Nanny and Papa's. Then it was off to the Duryea's side to have the town's largest Turkey Day ever. We had a good time catching up with family and playing outside on the swing set. If only I wasn't completely morning sick the entire trip, it would have been much more enjoyable.

We spent Christmas Eve at church for a wonderful candlelight service. Afterward, we went with the Gamblins to dinner and then spent the rest of the night at home preparing for our trip to Oklahoma. After having a great Christmas morning opening gifts with just the three of us, we packed up and headed out. We went to Grandma and Grandpa Duryea's first, where we were all very spoiled. Jason got a bass guitar, and Logan got many toys including a bike! Logan also met his great uncle Steve and his wife, Kim. After a great dinner, we went to my parents' house and prepared for another Christmas. We ended up shopping the after Christmas sales instead of doing another "traditional" Christmas. It was crazy because it was 80 degrees. There is nothing like being able to run around in December with no coat! Then we opened gifts at my sister's and we watched as Logan and Erica played with everything. We were so spoiled by the end of the trip, we really needed a trailer to bring everything home. It was a great trip.

Logan was so fussy when we returned, we thought it was just from traveling so much and being out of his routine. Also he woke up with a gunky eye on Christmas, so when we returned I called the doctor just to check. She asked us to bring him in and of course, he had pink eye. What we didn't know is that Logan doesn't run a fever with an ear infection like normal kids. He had two! So we went on antibiotics and all was well, or so we thought.

We had a little get together with the praise team after our rehearsal, and Logan was feeling well enough to be out, so we went to party. Logan was so excited to see the never ending bowl of cheesy puffs. Unfortunately, he has not developed self control. We left because he would not stop crying. Thinking he must be tired, we put him directly into his p.j.'s, and then he promptly began to throw up. It wasn't so cute to see a kid with a Cheeto hangover. By New Year's we had been through the ringer. Logan finally got better, but my morning sickness continued to hang on.

Jason and I both celebrated our birthday's this month. Jason turned 30 and some day we will go out and celebrate with the gift certificates he received. He got the best gift. We actually had a doctor's appointment on his birthday, and we found out it is a boy! My birthday was awesome. I had to spend a day at school with no heat in my classroom where I shivered and ended up with a runny nose. The nose turned into a head cold, so I slept most of the next day. It has to be said that I am not allowed to take ANYTHING with the medication I am on, so I was miserable. Jerry and Missy did end up taking us out to dinner, where I got ice cream for the price of being sung to. This was much better than the next day when we went out after church, and I got ice cream smeared on my face. Feliz Cupleanos!

So today, I am out for a snow day (the second one in a row this week) and finally got a chance to blog. I have been so tired because of the baby, we didn't even get our Christmas stuff put away until this past weekend. The morning sickness has now seemed to switch to non-stop hunger, which is so wonderful! Now we are trying to get ready for Newbaby. Yes, that is what we are calling the little one until we figure out a name. Please take part in the name survey and comment on what you think of the ideas we have had. Logan is sleeping. I think it wore him out when we went out to play in the snow. Thank you for reading, and I will try to keep everyone updated on Newbaby and Logan better than I have lately!
